When we partnered with Layerlogic Tech to launch a high-impact, two-week Robotics for Kids training in Abuja, we knew we were starting something special. What we didn’t fully anticipate was just how far these young innovators would travel in fourteen days — from opening their first robot kit boxes to flying drones, programming autonomous machines, and standing on a podium with trophies in hand.
This is the story of that journey.
Why We Started Here
At Hrishub International Limited, we are dedicated to advancing AI and robotics across the continent. We believe that equipping the younger generation with critical 21st-century skills isn’t just about teaching them to use technology — it’s about inspiring them to build it. The journey to making Africa a global AI research and robotics hub doesn’t start in a boardroom. It starts with our youth, in a room full of wires, motors, and curiosity.
That belief is what brought Hrishub and Layerlogic Tech together for this program, and it’s what shaped everything we built into the two weeks that followed.
Week One: Builders in the Making
The training opened with kids cracking open boxes of Otto Robot parts, with no idea yet what they were capable of creating. Over the following days, that uncertainty turned into mastery across three core disciplines:
- Mechanical Engineering — building Otto Robots from scratch, learning how motors, servos, and frames work together to create movement.
- Coding & Logic — bringing their robots to life through programming, translating lines of code into real, physical action.
- Aviation Tech — mastering drone navigation and safety, learning to fly with precision and responsibility.
Watching the kids move from assembling their first robot to writing the code that made it move was a reminder of how quickly young minds absorb hands-on technical skills when they’re given the right tools and the freedom to experiment.
Week Two: From Creators to Competitors
If the first week was about building skills, the second week was about putting them to the test. As the training progressed, the energy in the room shifted — these young engineers weren’t just learning anymore, they were competing.
The robotics competition that capped off the program brought out a different side of the cohort entirely. The rivalry was friendly, the energy electric, and the brilliance on display undeniable. Programming autonomous robots and piloting drones under competition pressure pushed every participant to apply everything they’d learned in real time.
Trophies were claimed, but as we told the kids that day: the trophies are just the beginning. The real prize is the skillset they’re walking away with.
Certification Day: Making It Official
The program reached its natural conclusion with a certification ceremony — a moment of real pride for everyone involved. Powered by Layerlogic Technologies in collaboration with Hrishub International Limited, the ceremony marked the journey these kids had taken: from learning, to building, to achieving.
Receiving that certificate wasn’t just a formality. It was proof, in the kids’ own hands, that the future of African AI and robotics is already here — and that they are part of building it.
